A lot of rare plant and living things!
Lake ball is threadlike green algae of shiogusa eyes shiogusa department. As we make globe (ball = mari), it is called lake ball (marimo) and is seen in Sakyo marsh of Lake Akan of Hokkaido and Shimokita, Aomori peninsula and here Yamanakako in Japan. He/she still tells importance of forest covered with the same kind of trees of harimomi where dead tree increases to a little protecting natural environments from experience.
Swan (bird of village)
Yamanakako was known as "Swan Lake", and whooper swan and whistling swan did for wintering than before.

In late years mute swan settles down and runs laying eggs - child care in spring and can observe all year swan.
Rosa hirtula (flower of village)
With shrub (shrub = low tree) of rose family, form of leaf is similar to Japanese pepper. After having let you take off saki with big flower approximately 5 centimeters in diameter in early summer, there is fruit with much sashimi. Fruit makes shochu pickles and may be used as medicine.
Because we endured cold, and flower which gave impression that it was bright as for the trunk tenaciously bloomed, it was chosen as flower of village as symbol of Village of Yamanakako.
Yew (tree of village)
These for "the original first place" and "the sub-first place" to express social position such as nobles because "yew" made scepter (board to hold in the right hand at the time of full dress in Japan of aggravating = Middle Ages) with the Japanese name using sound voluminousness of "the first place", in old days this tree; is said that named.
Generally, "Japanese yew" was said to be "ongo" by Ainu and was called "header" in here Yamanakako. It is tree tied to wisdom of life of people of Village of Yamanakako which we plant as "tree of fire return" around house to protect house from fire and planted for storm.
Antelope (animal of village)
Antelope is appointed to special natural monument in animals of cow department. By build that let some goats gain weight, two bent corners (horn) grow to head backward. The male corner is long, and point is narrow, and the female corner is big, and point has a dull shape. The corner is conic, and the inside becomes hollow. Hair is long, in the back, stomach is albescence with Symplocos prunifolia color and color tinged with orange. Hair which is white, and is especially long grows on cheeks. Hair was used as raw materials such as rugs (we cannot say).
Tree of Malus Sieboldii (Village of Yamanakako natural monument)
We see and bloom, and tree of Malus Sieboldii of the rose family apple genus grows in (the area of tail when we likened lake to whale) 130 in big things and small things or more popular name of the shore of Yamanakako. Tree of this Malus Sieboldii makes flower approximately 3 centimeters in diameter bloom every year in the end of May. Flower is crimson at the age of bud, but whitens when we finish opening. As small spherical fruit similar to yellow and red apple becomes when it is around September, various kinds of chicken gathers and eat fruit.
Yellow dye was made from the bark of tree of Malus Sieboldii in old days. Therefore the word "stain" (somi) changes; and with the name of Malus Sieboldii ask, and is broken.
Japanese squirrel of mouse eyes sciurine. We match body with head, and there is 20 centimeters approximately 15 centimeters only with tail. As for the hair, red brown, winter coat of fur are yellowish-brown in the summer. It inhabits the forest and eats nut and leaf, insect. We collect twig and leaves and make nest between branches. "Squirrel" is sound reading of "squirrel" of kanji.
In perennial plant of taro department, it grows under the trees. Leaf is two pieces, and wings of a biplane (it seems to blow) such as foot of chicken and about 1 meter have a certain terrestrial stem, too. In spring, cylindrical thing tinged with purple called spathe (not to obtain to hit) is made. As design of stem and spathe harks back to mamushi of poisonous snake, it is called Arisaema serratum. Underground corm has poison, but we call jack-in-the-pulpit (tennansho) in Sino-Japanese traditional medicine and are used as medicine
In perennial plant of the Japanese parsley department Angelica polyclada genus, we grow wild on grassy plain of mountainous district. The height of the stem becomes about 2 meters and touches floret of light green white a lot when it is autumn. It becomes medicine for cold and swelling when we dry root. It is "Angelica polyclada" when we write in kanji.
